The Proposal is a great start to the SWANK series by Maya Hughes, and yes, eventually you'll realize why the series is called SWANK.
In The Proposal, Zara and Leo are both down on their luck. Zara is struggling to make ends meet and to keep her little brother in a private school while working a dead-end job and Leo is just trying to figure out what to do next after suffering an injury that ended his pro-football career. They come together to work on a project that could be Zara's big break and Leo's chance to help his friend's struggling agency. An odd series of events lead them to fake an engagement, but neither of them plan to fall for each other along the way.
The banter and chemistry between Zara and Leo is very entertaining, and I have to admit a crush on Leo. I love how these characters evolved and how their story unfolded. The secondary characters all have their stories to tell too and I can't wait for more from Leo's friends in this series.
